I thought of a new category for Continuous Quiz but wanted to see how popular it was and indeed how many people could come up with suitable question. This is for questions that are similar to many in the Great British Quiz and are almost impossible to solve without Google and wiki. Whilst researching for quizzes I write I come across these quite often - I can't ask them in a quiz as no-one would know the answer but I find them interesting. As an example try the following:

He was born in India and christened with the same name as a person who was the subject of an Oscar winning film. He took a stage name that is the same as a current international politician and was president of a well known British institution until his death. Who is he?

Is it Ali Bongo?

It is Ali Bongo, born William Wallace (Braveheart) he shares his name with the President of Gabon and was himself President of The Magic Circle. He consulted on magic shows from David Nixon's in the 60s to Paul Daniels' in the 90s and according to Alan Davies was the inspiration for Jonathan Creek. Well done to TS (and JUS and rsa who got it by private message).

I'm going to leave this up here and add others when I come across them - everyone else please feel free to add your own question if you find one suitable - usually a conicidental association of names or events that you'd only solve with internet help.

Try this

The oldest-known photograph in the world, of a Flemish print of a boy/man leading a horse, taken in 1825, was sold at auction in France in March 2002 for £278,000. Who was the photographer?

I'll leave it for someone else - it's a piece of history but it doesn't look much for £278,000!

The reason I said I'd leave it for someone else is because I posted the photo but for some reason it didn't appear...

Anyway I have another question. Brutes 2

Great question. I think it's Billy Casper from the novel A Kestrel for a Knave which was filmed as Kes. And the mum was played by Lynn Perrie who played Ivy Wossername (Tilsley)? in Coronation Street.
