Not a suggestion for a puzzle but just my experiences of making it a bit "fairer" for the younger quizzers. Picture rounds, current TV and films (especially those that have not yet hit tv), and news of the last two years tend to be more even - ask questions on D-list celebs and my teenage daughter will outscore me every time.

Chuck in a couple of contemporary teenage fiction questions into the literature section e.g. Jacqueline Wilson, Philippa Gregory, Gossip Girl and shamelessly steal a couple of questions from the BBC Bitesize GCSE revision guides - there are very few subjects where today's children are better educated but there are some - world religion for example.
