No - but an almost exact contemporary - born 8 years later and died 9 years later than cummings. The fellow I'm after was well known for limericks.

I don't think anyone is going to get this - it was Ogden Nash. Which French playwright and philosopher stated that "L'enfer, c'est les autres" or "Hell is other people" in a 1944 play?
