No takers? It was Matthew Parris. In Japan 1/3 of all golfers, around 4 million in total, have insurance policies to cover them against what specific eventuality?

Possibly scoring a hole in one? I know they have to buy something, but can`t recollect.

Yep - you have to buy presents for everyone you're playing with which is often several thousand dollars so they all pay their $60 per year insurance.

Staying with football, Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard are the only players to have made more than 600 appearances in the Premiership. The player to have made the third most appearances with 595 may overtake both of them this season as he is still playing in the Premiership. Who is he?

I have a dim recollection that Peter Alliss said Dai Rees was playing captain in one of his Ryder Cups. I don't know if there's been one since then...

Dai Rees' last outing as a playing captain was in 1961. There was one after that.

Incidentally, I had the pleasure of seeing Dai Rees play, when my dad took me to a Senior tour event. This would have been around 1968-ish. At the time I had no idea who Dai Rees was, but I remember he had a big chunk of the crowd following him.

Tony Jacklin's the only other possibility I can think of but didn't think he was captain till after he'd stopped playing...
