What was bought by a wealthy businessman in 1915 possibly as a present for his wife for just under £7,000 but given away just 3 years later? It is believed to have been seen by over 50 million people since then.

It is!. Auctioned in 1915 as "Lot 15. Stonehenge with about 30 acres, 2 rods, 37 perches of adjoining downland." it was bought by Cecil Chubb for £6,600 who donated it to the nation in 1918.
