Roving further afield today and it's baking hot! The temperature is 38C and forecast to go over 40C later in the week. I'm in a city founded in the early 19th Century and originally named after a famous battle but was renamed after a politician in the 1830s. It is the regional capital despite there being 3 larger cities in the region and, surprise, surprise, is the local centre for high technology - although it is also well known for its live music and annual music and film festival. It's most famous citizen is an entrepreneur who started a business in the mid-80s which now turns over $50 billion per year and is the biggest employer in the Metropolitan area. So where am I and who is the entrepreneur?
I'm off on a quick trip tonight to a city with well over a million inhabitants although it's only the third largest city in its country. The city is a wonderful blend of the old and the new as it is over 900 years old and is especially known for its baroque architecture. It is home to one of Europe's largest and most famous public parks whose name reflects the fact its style is based on Capability Brown.
Unsurprisingly it's the centre of its nation's electronics industry and is home to a massive research institute (13,000 employees) which has produced 32 Nobel Prize winners and is named after a winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work on atomic theory.
Which city and who was the Nobel Prize winner?
