Norman Cowans is the first one I remember - he was brilliant in an Ashes game in the early 80s that England won by 3 or 4 runs. I can remember I was at a house party and being so excited I stopped snogging the girl I was snogging for at least 10 seconds.
Was it Roland Butcher? I think he was around before Wilf Slack

Apologies, I've been away on holiday for a week or so.
Roland Butcher was indeed the first - he played 3 tests and 3 ODI's in 1980/81
Gladstone Small and Wilf Slack first played a Test in 1986, Cowans in 1982
The game I assume you refer to WR was in Melbourne in 1982 / 83 when England won by 3 runs after Jeff Thomson and Alan Border had taken the Australians close by adding 70 for the last wicket. Thomson then edged a delivery from IT Botham (who else!) to Chris Tavaré at slip who could only parry the ball and Geoff Miller, having turned around (so the story goes) to walk off as he assumed the ball was now going for 4 resulting in an Aussie win, caught the rebound. Cowans was indeed magnificent in that innings, taking 6/77.
What was her name?!

Rodney Marsh: "So how's your wife…and my kids?"
Ian Botham: "The wife's fine, but the kids are retarded."

Ah - memories. Her name was Christine and at 18 she was the love of my life.
