Oops Embarassed I did actually mean furlongs in a marathon (was thinking feet in a mile first hence the typo!). But guess it's still way off for a marathon too.

How about 3000 fathoms in a mile (or marathon!) as another wild guess?

Fathoms are 6 feet if memory serves, a mile is 5280 feet so there are 880 fathoms in a mile.

Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may well be way off here but in the film
"The man who went up a hill and came down a mountain"
wasn't the hill changed to a mountain because it measured
over 3000 ft or something. so "3000 feet is a mountain"
Actually that doesn't sound right, oh well I will still
leave it as a guess Confused

Buzzie away for at least another week, so i have made an executive decision to post a new Q to get things moving and when Buzzie is back we can go back to his Q!!! Very Happy

After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9
and so on), the teacher asked his class to draw a single,
continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the
teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper
until the line was complete. How did they do it?
