Having got fed up with the weather I'm off for a couple of days. I'm going to a city founded in 1605 with over 100,000 inhabitants today. It's probably best known as the home of the World Air Guitar Championships however I am visiting a large multinational company. In fact it's so large that it accounts for almost half of the value of its home country's stock market. I'll be taking a coat as evening temperatures are already only just above freezing. Which city and which company?

No, not as far afield as that although much further north - this city is only about 50 miles south of the Arctic Circle I believe. Also Microsoft is massive but so is the NYSE. This is a huge company in a country with a low population...

Off tomorrow for a week at the RAI which is one of the best Conference Centres around. Situated in a country which has an identical population density to England this city has a population of only 750,000, is very cosmopolitan and over 50% of children born in the city are born to immigrants which is the highest of any city. Where am I going?

Today I'm off to a city a little over 3,000 miles away. Unfortunately the weather forecast for the next week is virtually identical to here - around 16C and rain Sad which is poor for this time of year. It's one of the few cities to have had a subway since Victorian times and today has a population of around 600,000 around half of whom live on reclaimed land.

It is home to its country's most famous political dynasty and has a world famous university - 26 of its graduates have won Nobel prizes. It also has a thriving tourist industry, attracting 16 million visitors annually. It's one of my favourite cities although sadly all I'm going to see of it is its large and modern Conference Centre. Where am I visiting?

Haven't had one of these for a while so.... on Saturday I'm off to a city which at the start of the 20th century had a population of 25. It now has a population of over 500,000 and bizarrely has more churches per head of population than any other city in its country.

The weather is a little better than here - at the moment around 12C during the day falling to around freezing at night. It has many claims to fame but my favourite is that when viewed from space it is the brightest city on earth.

Two for the price of one - tomorrow I'm off to a city where fossils of early homo erectus dating back to 250,000 B.C. have been found. It rivalled London as the largest city in the world during the 18th Century. I won't be taking my mac as the average June temperature is 30 degrees C! I haven't been there for 10 years so it will be interesting to see how it's changed as there has been massive development there - but I'm more interested in going to a world famous museum that used to be an imperial palace. Any ideas?

City 2 is less well known - it was the capital of the same country as City 1 at one time and was the eastern terminus of a historically famous trade route. It is now the centre of its country's defence and aerospace industry. And it's even hotter than City 1 Sad It has a population comparable with London and has a World Heritage Site housing artefacts from 200 BC accidentally discovered in 1974 by farmers digging a well. In 2007 some of these artefacts were displayed at the British Museum and the number of visitors was second only to the Tutankhamun exhibition of 1972. Any ideas?

I'm off at 2 p.m. so time is short as this country is a notorious censor of internet access - damn I've given it away Smile
