Hi folks,
Here I am again, cap in hand, reverently touching forelock Which crafty cryptology person, can help me with these questions?
They will all give an answer which is either a cryptic creature, great and small, real, fictional or mythological. Answers on a postcard please - Only Joking!
If Wild Rover or Silverside are here, it will be easy-peasy for their high intellects. Mind you, it might be a bit mundane for them
1. Did Howard Hughes ever design one for Jane this big?
2. To talk quickly on and on with Jonathon's idea ofStallones I-IV
3. Did Noah try Tin before his wooden boat? to find Carroll's quest.
4. Denims with Greece's capital nearly - Monstrous.
5. See you later!
6. Helen's abduction caused the arrival of this tricky creature - either answer OK.
7. Tars tapped hard to find this creature.
8. Is Monty missing his?
9 Famous Wellies connect a N European city and this horse.
10. Not a fast type of gear wheel.#
I wait with bated breath for the results. My bet is on Wild Rover cracking this one, after their input on 'colours for a map'

Thanks folk,
Some good answers there. It's hard enough solving cryptic clues, let alone solving them when the quizzer has made errors!
Thanks JUS, I'm liking Jabberwocky, Snark, Trojan horse and leviathan. Thanks feey, for Alligator I'm thinking that 'rats' might be too simple for that clue?
Top marks, tonto, very good answers. As for 'worm' nerner, it's possible. Or maybe a 'Fly'? from Fly wheel (is that a gear?) Fast = Fly or Fly guy. Any thoughts on that folk?
I'm just holding for three now, 7, 8 and 10.
Thanks again. |

You are going with my zebra for number 1? rather than the plane
As in Z bra ............as in vvvvv big!
little quote from wiki
"His first two films, Everybody's Acting (1927) and Two Arabian Knights (1928), were financial successes, the latter winning the first Academy Award for Best Director of a Comedy Picture. The Racket (1928) and The Front Page (1931) were also nominated for Academy Awards. Hughes spent US$3.8 million to make the flying film Hell's Angels (1930). He produced another hit, Scarface (1932), a production delayed by censors' concern over its violence. The Outlaw (1943), completed in 1941, which featured Jane Russell, also received considerable attention from industry censors, this time owing to Russell's revealing costumes. Hughes designed a special bra for his leading lady, although Russell decided against wearing the bra because of a mediocre fit." _________________ Which is worse -- ignorance or apathy? For 7 am wondering if the tars refers to sailors and if mermaid, lorelei or sirens might be relevant? _________________ Which is worse -- ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care! |

Well, you guys have sold me slow-worm and python.
Since I've led a very sheltered life I never thought of bras The more I think about it, Zebra has the edge over Spruce Goose, so I'm going for Zebra. Interesting life you've lived JUS Thanks for the research.
So that just leaves me 7 on hold. Rats just seems so simple after those other devious clues. I too am thinking along the lines, sailors for tars. |

No. 7 is weevil, as sailors back in the day would tap hard-tack biscuits on the table until the weevils dropped out. _________________ Tallscot |

Well folk,
This is what I'm going with and due acknowledgements:-
1.Zebra (JUS)
2.Jabberwocky (JUS)
3.Snark (JUS)
4.Leviathan (JUS)
5.Alligator (feey)
6.Trojan Horse (JUS)
7.Weevil (Tallscot)
8.Python (JUS+wildrover)
9.Copenhagen (tonto)
10.Slow-worm (nerner+wildrover)
So, in under 20 hrs, 6 people in 4 countries, England, Ireland, Scotland Spain and wherever nerner is from! (countries in alphabetical order, to avoid upsetting the more sensitive, nationalistic of you) have answered the questions. Isn't technology wonderful?
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have helped me to achieve this, gush, gush. To my mum and dad, who made it possible for me to be here, gush, gush, and all those that know me, gush, gush. )))
For real though, thanks guys for your help, your answers led me to research more, therefore I'm a little bit wiser than before. I'm still trying to get my head around Z*bras though,JUS!
I will let you know the quizzers preferred answers in December.
