WHAT IS AVAILABLE ON QUIZ-ZONE?
The main content of quiz-zone is its large database of thousands of quality quiz questions, plus a large number of pre-compiled quizzes and quiz rounds on a variety of subjects and of various formats. These are completely free for anyone to use, whether it is for fun, or whether you are looking for questions or quiz rounds to help you compile your own quiz.

Quiz-zone also features ideas, advice and resources to help you compile and run your own quiz, and there is also a forum where you can discuss anything quiz related with other visitors to the site.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE QUESTIONS?

The questions in the quiz-zone database can be accessed in a number of ways as follows...

Latest Questions
Clicking on the "Latest Questions" link under the "Latest Additions" menu on the left will display the 20 most recently added questions to the quiz-zone database. You can then click on the "Answers" link to the top right of this list of questions to view the answers to these. Also, all the questions in the quiz-zone database have a category, difficulty rating, and quality rating. If you move the mouse over any question then you will be able to see these details along with the month in which the question was added to the database.

Browse Questions
These links will enable you to look at a specific group of questions. For example, if you click on the "By Category" link you will see all the categories into which the questions are grouped along with a number indicating how many questions fall into that group. If you then click on one of these categories the 20 most recently added questions for this category will be displayed. As before you can click on "Answers" to view the answers and you can move the mouse over a question to see the full details of its category, difficulty rating, quality rating and the month it was added to the database. When browsing questions, however, there will also be page links at the bottom right of the list of questions. Only 20 questions are displayed at a time, so if there are more than 20 questions in the group you are browsing you can use these links to view all the questions in the group.

Search Questions - Basic
To do a quick search on a piece of text that may be contained in a question or answer, simply enter this text in the box underneath "Search Questions" in the menu on the left of the screen. Then click "Go" and any questions where the question or answer contains this text will be displayed on screen. For example, if you type "Madonna" in the box and click "Go" then all the questions in the quiz-zone database about Madonna will be displayed. Again, you can click on "Answers" to view the answers to these questions, you can move the mouse over the questions to see the full details, and if more than 20 questions contain the text you entered then you can use the page links to view all these questions.

Search Questions - Advanced
Advanced search works in the same way as the basic search above, but instead of just looking for text in the questions and answers, it gives you the option to choose whether you search on the question or the answer (or both), plus it allows you to choose a category, difficulty level and quality level. So for example, if you want to find the best questions on football, then enter "Football" in the text box next to "Question contains", choose "Exceptional" from the drop down menu next to "Quality" and then click on "Search" in the bottom right. The advanced search option is especially useful if you are compiling a quiz. So for example, if you are setting a challenging round on Geography, but need a few more questions, then selecting "Geography" and either "Difficult" or "Very Difficult" should give you a list of suitable questions for you to choose from.

Generating Quiz Rounds
You can also get a list of questions using the "Generate Quiz Rounds" option. This can be used for fun, but is particularly useful if you are compiling a quiz. This works by setting criteria in a similar way to the advanced search feature and when you click on the "Generate" link a set of questions matching this criteria will be displayed. The advantage of this feature for anyone who is compiling a quiz is that as well as clicking on "Answers" to view the answers to these questions, you can also click on "Print" or "PDF" to view the quiz in a format suitable for printing. Note that for the "PDF" feature to work you must have Adobe Reader installed. This is free and available at www.adobe.com.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE QUIZZES?
The quizzes on quiz-zone can be accessed in several ways as follows...

Latest Additions
As well as having a link to the latest questions added to the quiz-zone database, the "Latest Additions" menu on the left lists the three most recently added quizzes. Clicking on these will display the quiz in the page.

Browse Quizzes
In a similar way as with browsing questions, the quizzes are grouped by the month they were added to the site, the format of the quiz and a difficulty level, and you can click on one of the links in the "Browse Quizzes" menu to show all the available months, formats or difficulty levels along with how many quizzes are available for each. Clicking on one of these groups will then list the titles of all the quizzes available in this group and you can then click on one of these quiz titles to access the quiz. Note that there is also a "Browse All Quizzes" link which will list all the quizzes on the site.

As well as covering a variety of subjects, the quizzes come in four distinct formats. These are as follows...

Standard Quizzes
These quizzes are standard question and answer quizzes, although they do cover a variety of subjects and there are a number of special quizzes of this format (e.g. anagrams, song lyrics, movie quotes, etc). Many standard quizzes also include tie break questions, so they may be useful if you are compiling a quiz and are looking for sometime to separate teams in the event of two or more teams having the same score at the end of the normal round. When viewing a standard format quiz, the questions will be displayed and there will be an "Answers" link to the top right of these. Clicking on this will display the answers. There are also "Print" and "PDF" links where you can view the quiz in a more suitable format for printing.

Picture Quizzes
These are visual quizzes, where a series of pictures are given from which you have to work out the answers. If you are planning on using picture quizzes in an actual quiz, then these will obviously have to be printed and handed out to the teams taking part. Common picture quizzes are where you have to give the names to a series of pictures of famous pictures, or to identify which movie a picture is taken from. As with standard quizzes the "Answers" link will display the answers and the "Print" and "PDF" links will display the quiz in a format that is more suitable for printing.

Interactive Quizzes
Interactive quizzes are special quizzes where no answers are given. Instead there are text boxes where you can enter your guesses to these questions and then if you click on "Check Answers", the page will be displayed again showing how many you got correct. You can then keep on trying until you either get all questions correct or you give up. Although you can't view the answers to these, you can use the "Print" or "PDF" links to view the quiz in a more suitable format for printing as with the quizzes above.

Excel Quizzes
Excel quizzes are similar in idea to the interactive quizzes described above where you can enter answers and find out if they are right or wrong. With Excel quizzes, however, you have to download these from quiz-zone to your computer where you can then use Microsoft Excel to complete them. Most Excel quizzes will have answers that are available by clicking on the answers link, but some may not have been created by quiz-zone and so it is not guaranteed that the answers to Excel quizzes will be made available.

WHAT ELSE IS AVAILABLE ON QUIZ-ZONE?

The quiz-zone forum is a discussion board where anyone can post comments to on anything quiz related.
