Oh how we all love Royal Mail
Deliver in rain and in hail
But the only way
To afford to pay
Is buy the stamps in a sale!

Ta

I'll finish this one then

Oh how we all love Royal Mail
Deliver in rain and in hail
But the price of first class
Is a pain in the a***
It truly is beyond the pale.

People called Dave a sinner
For trying to be a winner,
But he had no time
To deny any crime,
He was always hosting a dinner!

There was a strange woman called Brick,
Who said that she was a hot chick,
But we have concluded
That she is deluded,
Enough now, she's making us sick!

Someone farted without a care
With a cheek proverbially bare,
While roused from sleep
I breathed in deep
And said “Wow! Smell that fresh air!â€Â￾

There's a mountain lady I know
Around the hillside she'd go
And then at the peak
The height of her week
To slide back down in the snow

A lady's and gentleman's rumps
Have different proportioned bumps
But oft in size
It's no surprise
That it's a lady's rump that trumps!

It's a short poem rather than a limerick, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. (Original, my own words.)

My love is like the rainbow,
Colourful but fleetingly seen,
Red of passion, orange fire,
Sunshine yellow, earthly green,
Blue flying high and happy,
Darker hues the soul has seen.

It does not cling or weigh you down,
Does not need to be on show,
When the sunshine mixes with rain
It will appear with warming glow,
There to hold you in its embrace
Reminding you that I still know,

And I am thinking of you.

Thank you, JUS and QM. I have had poetry published in the past and though I don't write so much nowadays, mainly because I'm not into the modern trends, I do occasionally come up with something. I was in the army in the early 70s and spent time in Northern Ireland. This was published in the Royal Signals magazine and I received a lot of good feedback at the time. I called it 'The Venom of the Adder'.

What news headlines flare for men who die like sheep?
Which reporters would bow their heads and weep?
There is only the lonely vigil of isolated guard huts,
The distant sound of home made bombs.
A single, sullen thud suddenly puts
A deathly hush over rainswept tombs,
While mothers at home cry
In case their sons should die.

The innocent lie among the convicted
As still as any other,
The streets are lined with the evicted
From homes destroyed by a brother.
And still the fighting forges
Furrows of hate through the land,
Forming impassable gorges
Cast by the assassin's hand,
The scars scale the longest ladder
And are strewn from border to border,
And like the venom of the adder
They destroy all sense of order,
And so, as is too often the case,
Behind hate, man hides his face.

Quite powerful, I think. This was when I was in my best form.
