On a general point, Pulse's formula is correct - if you choose m objects from a total number of n objects then the number of different ways you can choose them is [n!/m!(n-m)!].

So if I'd asked the same question but the player had both big value boxes at the 8 box stage then the number of ways of choosing 2 boxes from 8 is [8!/2!6!] which is 28 and there are 13 possible combinations containing one or both boxes so the probability would be 13/28.
